Total Metrics

Established in 1994, Total Metrics is an Australian-based company with experienced software metrics consultants who work in many different countries to support organisations worldwide in their quest to achieve software excellence. 

Widely respected for their active support of and contribution to the work of the International Standards Organization (ISO) , their principal consultants have key roles in the development of the new international functional size measurement standards suite, ISO 14143.  All consultants are certified by the International Function Point User Group (IFPUG) and several are active participants of both the IFPUG and COSMIC Counting Practices Committees. Total Metrics also contributes to the International Software Benchmarking Standards Group (ISBSG) which provides clients with a range of services and benchmark data.

Total Metrics’ SCOPE Function Point Counting tool, for which Pan Metron is the European agent, incorporates this high level of expertise and is fast becoming the function point counting tool of choice for organisations serious about better project estimation, managing scope creep and keeping their software projects under control.

Many DCG senior managers and consultants have held leadership positions in international industry bodies such as IFPUG and the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). They are often called upon as expert witness by the US Federal Courts and have authored a substantial number of books and publications on issues such as IT metrics and benchmarking.

DCG actively gathers, maintains, analyses and distributes industry performance data, and sponsors not-for-profit efforts such as the ISBSG. Through its Industry Benchmark Database Query Tool DCG provides subscription-based online access to a proprietary database of over 7,000 recently completed (last 3 years) software development/enhancement projects to allow subscribers to perform their own simple queries in real-time without the need to engage a consultant.
